self help links

Life can be tough, exciting, complicated, challenging and full of questions, great and small. It's helpful to share and face those challenges, and simply give things a try. This is a very small starter selection of links and resources. I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations. If you are an author or expert who would like to join the self help central network then drop me a line.

Confidence

Often our confidence levels can feel like they are on a rollercoaster. We go from feeling secure in ourselves and our abilities to either a sudden or gradual drop into self-doubt, retreat and indecision. Right now the economic insecurities of the world can effect us on a personal level, from job security to confidence in our local healthcare services.

Self confidence is assertive, not arrogant. And there are countless authors, websites and courses that promise us increased confidence. As I come across more I will add further reviews.

Books and Web

Gael Lindenfield is an author who walks her talk. Gael spent the majority of her childhood in government-run care homes, following which she developed a serious depressive illness in her twenties. With the help of therapy she recovered and went on to train as a psychiatric social worker and psychotherapist. This led to a special interest in the prevention of mental illness and the creation of self-help programmes designed to help people deal with emotionally challenging situations at home and at work. Gael has now written many bestselling books on confidence-building, self esteem and managing feelings. I can thoroughly recommend any of Gael's books.
